An Update for the Great Expectations Community
We have an important update to share about Great Expectations. We have been acquired!
Great Expectations started as a global community of practitioners joining together, sharing knowledge, contributing ideas, and helping move the practice of data quality forward. Over the past several years, data teams of all shapes and sizes have used Great Expectations to build trust in their data.
This next chapter builds on that foundation, and we’re excited about it.
FICO to acquire GX Cloud
Great Expectations (GX) and Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) have completed a definitive agreement to acquire GX Cloud and incorporate it into the FICO platform as the foundation for its next-generation data quality!
FICO is a multi-billion-dollar public company providing leading analytics and Decision Intelligence software that helps businesses in 80+ countries make better decisions that drive higher levels of growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. FICO Platform is recognized by Gartner, IDC and Forrester as a best Decision Intelligence platform.
GX Cloud's core mission is to provide trust in data. GX Cloud, is the only SaaS product built upon the industry’s most widely deployed data quality framework. That speaks volumes to the value of what we built. Together with GX Cloud, FICO Platform is furthering its leadership position as the best company in the world that helps enterprises operationalize AI with decisioning. We’re excited to see GX Cloud become part of the FICO Platform.
As part of this transition, GX Cloud will no longer be publicly available beginning June 1. If you are currently using GX Cloud you should have already received information about timelines, support, and next steps.
GX Core and the Community
Fivetran will become the new steward of the Great Expectations open source community and the GX Core project, supporting the continued development of one of the industry’s most widely used open source data quality frameworks.
Under the planned transition, GX Core will continue as an open source, community-driven project. Fivetran intends to support ongoing project maintenance, ecosystem integrations, and community engagement.
The Great Expectations community has always been about data practitioners working through real data quality problems. The community’s contributions to Great Expectations made the product what it is today and helped thousands of data practitioners build trust in their data.
We’re excited to have found an industry-leading partner in Fivetran that shares our passion for data and data quality to guide the community in its next chapter. Under this new stewardship, the community will continue to grow and thrive.
